Flat blocks of colour lock together with the logic of fields, walls and paths seen from above. Each tone was printed separately, which gives the surface its even density and the edges their clean registration. The image never resolves into a literal landscape, but its structure keeps it tied to the ground. The artist has not yet been identified. What can be read with confidence is its mid-century visual language: economical shape, controlled colour and no unnecessary gesture.
