The copper jug is the technical centre of this still life. Thin, dark paint establishes its rounded body, then a few thick highlights turn metal into reflected light. The pears are quieter but equally controlled, their irregular shapes preventing the arrangement from becoming formal. Painted on panel, the smooth support allows small shifts in edge and surface to remain crisp. The artist is not yet identified. The quality lies in close observation, not symbolism: ordinary objects made convincing through paint.
